Sewing Kids Clothes

I’ve been a bit quiet lately, I guess soaking up the end of summer.  Now we’re getting back into the routine of school work with Megan and preschool for Molly and planning for Girl Scouts.  And of course, work.  I haven’t been sewing much lately, only collecting fabric.  Something I’m not too proud of.  I enjoy sewing and am working to incorporate it back into my life several times a week, if not daily.  When I read on the Brown Paper Packages blog about the Kids’ Clothes Week Challenge being held on the Elsie Marley blog, I thought it sounded fun, so I’m going to join in!  The week of Sept. 20 through 26, I’m going to try to spend an hour per day working on a clothing item (or two) for the girlies.

Molly’s First Day of Preschool

Today was Molly’s first day of preschool (for the second year). She has been very excited for weeks about going back.  The big day had finally arrived and she was so excited.  She looks a little nervous, doesn’t she?

Molly

A close-up of her fat lip.  She banged her chin on the table on Sunday, bled a lot, and now has this to show for it.  I guess it’s not that bad.

Molly

This is Megan’s unofficial first day of school picture.  She actually started 2nd grade last Wednesday, but we didn’t take photos that day.  To be honest, I think she stayed in her PJ’s all day, since that’s something she can do with cyber school 🙂

Megan

Both girls, ready to go.  This was the only photo I got with Molly smiling – she’s smiling at the neighbor!

Girlies

It sounds like she had a great day.  She claims to like this class even better than last year.  I hope she has a good second year of preschool and learns lots of new things!

Playing in the Rain!

After a hot day at the Cline family reunion at Pine Creek on Saturday, we welcomed some rain on Sunday while we were at Nana’s house.   The girls were thrilled to go out and play in the rain in their swimsuits.  They ran up and down the sidewalk, just goofing off and having a blast.  Sorry some of these are fuzzy – the screen didn’t help my auto focus with almost-dead batteries.  Oops.

Molly was kind enough to pause just briefly enough for a good snapshot 🙂

Second Grade

Right before we left for Pine Creek (in between our two trips) the UPS man delivered the materials for second grade.  We got around to opening them over the weekend.  For those of us who love new books and learning, it was like Christmas!  Megan was excited and asked if we could start right away!  Unfortunately, the course outlines aren’t available to us yet, so we can’t start.  I think she needs a few more weeks of summer vacation, anyway 🙂

Proud girlie.  She is so excited to be going into second grade and even more excited to be doing it at home.  She loves being able to work at her own pace and spend more time on the things she’s most interested in.  She has already started reading some of the books for next year, and is thoroughly enjoying herself.  I love seeing her so enthusiastic about learning!

{this moment}

{this moment} – A weekly ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
