My First Project!

I got a sewing machine for Christmas and wanted to start out with something fairly easy as my first project. A friend pointed me towards these fairly easy directions for making a pillowcase and so I headed to the fabric shop & picked out some Valentines day fabric. Megan was thrilled with her pillowcase and had to stay up watching me sew so she could use it that evening. This sewing things is kind of fun 🙂

Megan's Tree

This morning, dropping Megan off at school, she made me laugh. I was chatting with Mrs. Reese, complimenting her on the Christmas Program the night before. While Megan tried to decide where she wanted to play. Mrs. Reese told Megan that they were getting ready to watch a movie “Oh Christmas Tree”.

Megan piped in with “We have a Christmas Tree at home”.

Mrs. Reese: Oh, I must have the saddest home on the block. We don’t have one yet.

Megan: Ours didn’t come out of a box. It came from the Christmas Tree Farm.

Mrs. Reese: Oh, that’s the best kind.

Megan: My Daddy cut it down. **Lots of pride in her voice**

I guess she thought that most other people got their trees out of boxes. Megan decided against the Christmas Tree movie – she opted for playing with the castle instead. Apparently she figured it was about a tree out of a box and just wasn’t interested.

Megan's School Christmas Program

Megan’s school Christmas program was tonight – it’s been a busy week! She picked out a special dress to wear and we curled her hair with the curling iron. She looked so pretty. I think she was getting nervous, because at the last minute she didn’t want to go. But we went, and she was good. She was yawning & because it was so late. The first song the kids started to sing, I almost laughed out loud. Apparently the teachers told them to sing loudly so their parents could hear them, because they were *this* close to shouting. It was very loud. And off key. But they were cute and sweet. So Megan’s stage debut went off without a hitch and I was so proud of her. We’re supposed to be able to get a DVD of the performance. Watch for film clips when we get it… Posted by Picasa

Getting a Christmas Tree

We trekked out to the tree farm today to get a Christmas Tree. We had fun wandering all around looking for the perfect tree. We wanted a small-ish tree, so it wouldn’t take up so much space. There was one tree Scott and I liked, but Megan shot it down immediately. The reason? “There’s not enough room under that tree for very many presents.” We tried to convince her that we could trim some branches so there would be space, but she wouldn’t budge. The photo of the girls & I is with our actual tree before Scott cut it down. While he was doing that, the girls and I started to walk back to the car. They collected “brooms” (stray branches from the trees) the whole way back. Everyone had rosy cheeks and cold noses by the time we headed home for hot cocoa with the tree strapped on top!

Santa Lights

Megan brought home these really cool glasses that when you look at Christmas lights with them on, they make it look like lots of little Santas. Of course we had to try them out on the tree. And through the camera. Pretty cool. Posted by Picasa
