We finally had to move Molly out of her crib. After catching her hoisting herself over the railing and trying to climb out (probably about 5 seconds from face planting herself on the carpet) we decided it was time to get out the toddler bed for Molly. She is very excited about her new bed and has done ok so far. Scott had to send her back to bed a few times at naptime today and I had to tuck her back in once at bedtime. For now, we have the gate across her door to keep her from getting out and wandering down the stairs or into Megan’s room at 2 am. She has the same Dora bedding that Megan used and it seems to be a hit. Pictures to follow soon 🙂

I got Megan a shirt for her birthday that needed bottoms, so I decided to try making her a twirly skirt. I found some tutorials on the web, but just didn’t follow them well. I think I’m the kind of person who needs very specific and step by step instructions, so I found a pattern at Jo-Ann’s for what I wanted to do. Here’s the fabric & the shirt before. These are the fabrics Megan wanted. I wanted to get a more hot pink for the center, but she insisted on the lighter one.

I am pretty pleased with how it came out. I think she is too 🙂
 The girls were taking a bath together the other night and were playing with the toys. Megan was holding a Dora doll. The conversation went something like this: Megan: “Mommy, Dora is…what’s that word for not real?” I thought it was funny. They must be talking about the different types of books at school lately. Anyway, I was impressed.   So, after the wild success of the pillowcase, I decided to venture to Jo-Ann’s for some supplies and see what good stuff I could find in the remant bins. While there, I was sucked in by the $5 for $5 sale on patterns. I figured doll clothes would be a good way to learn how to do stuff like that without needing so much fabric, so I picked up a few patterns. I made these outfits for the girls’ dolls in fabrics of their choice (Molly’s on the left & Megan’s on the right). They’re not perfect – I sewed the lace on the wrong side of the pants on Molly’s outfit and the velcro in Megan’s doll sleeper was supposed to be a zipper but I couldn’t find one in the right size. I’m still learning, but still having fun. I picked up some patterns for Barbie clothes, too. I tried one and there won’t be any photos of it. Barbie clothes are HARD. Since I can’t resist a good sale, I also picked up some simple looking summery dress patterns for the girls. I guess the next step is to commit to some fabric or something like that. I’m looking forward to trying them out! |
