Horses

While we were in Piggott visiting Scott’s parents, the girls really enjoyed the horses (and the donkey) that live next door.  One evening after dinner, we took some apples out to see if we could tempt the horses to come closer to the fence.  They did, and the girls were thrilled.  They both loved seeing them so close up and enjoyed petting them through the fence.  Neither was quite brave enough to feed them apples. Megan did try, but kind of chickened out when she realized they had big teeth.  They were happy to stand by and watch 🙂

They are really gorgeous animals – I can  understand why the girls were so enthralled by them.

Bubbles

After some lunch, air conditioning and visiting, the girls went out to blow bubbles…I think I had as much fun trying to capture photos as they did blowing them.

4th of July

We traveled to Piggott, Arkansas on July 1 and 2 to visit Scott’s family over the 4th of July and his birthday.  On Saturday, the 3rd, Piggott held their Independence Day celebrations.  We went to the parade and then to ride carnival rides.

The girls had a good time watching the parade, but I think their favorite part was collecting all the candy being thrown out to the kids watching the parade.  Their favorite parts of the parade seemed to be the tractors and the horses…that’s our little “country girls at heart”.

After watching the parade, we walked over to the fairgrounds to go on rides and get some lunch. The girls were so excited to go on the Merry-go-round.  They also rode a dragon ride and a motorcycle ride where they just went around in a circle.   They really had a blast on those, giggling and laughing.

After those, we went on the Tilt-a-Whirl (my favorite!) as a family.  At first, the girls thought it was great – just giggling and laughing.  After a few minutes, though, Molly decided she wasn’t enjoying herself so much.  They kept the ride going for quite a while and by the end she was almost crying to get off.  Scott and I agreed it was the longest Tilt-a-Whirl we’d ever been on!

All-in-all, we had a fun time at the festivities, but we were ready to go home for some lunch and air conditioning!

{this moment} – A weekly ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Lightning Bugs

Fireflies

Megan had a friend over to spend the night yesterday.  They were midway through a movie, on the couch with snacks when they realized the lightning bugs were outside.  They decided they needed to go catch some and took off to the back yard.  It was sort of late, but they sure did have fun running around in the dusk catching lightning bugs.  They kept them overnight and released them this morning – they claimed that most of them survived!
