Sunday was our last day at the cabin – never long enough. I really am going to go on a whole week vacation up there some day.
The day started off rainy and we were concerned we might be stuck inside for the day. Luckily the sun came out so we went for a walk in the neighborhood where the cottage is and also on the Pine Creek Rail Trail that goes right past the neighborhood.
Dad told the kids about various plants we saw along the trail. I think this one was glassweed.
There were lots of pretty flowers along the trail, but the only flower-y photo that really came out like I had hoped was this daisy. I guess that’s what happens when you are using a point-and-shoot because you let your hubby take the good camera to a photography workshop…
We walked quite a way down the trail till we came to this bridge. Molly’s legs were getting tired by this point, so Kassidy carried her for a bit.
Near the bridge, the trail met up with the road from the neighborhood, so we went back that way. It was really starting to get hot, so the kids used the umbrellas we had brought along as parasols to shade them.
Molly’s legs got tired again, so she hitched another ride…
Nana was reading on the porch of the cottage when we got back. The kids all sat down around her for this perfect photo. If only I had realized that plant was in front of Aaron’s face. Grr.
After some lunch, Megan and I wanted to go for one more kayak ride. It was really windy, so she didn’t like being on her own. So she got in with me. We had a nice little ride up the creek to fetch a plastic bucket that was out there floating around. My little environmentalist.
As we were finishing up our kayak ride, Aunt Mari and her family came for a visit. More cousins!
It was a great weekend at Pine Creek. I wish we could have stayed longer…
