Our Girl Scout Camporee was last weekend. That means girls from lots of troops in our area all met at Camp Small Valley in Halifax for a weekend of camping fun. We shared a space with another Daisy troop and a Cadette troop. Five girls from our troop were able to go. Because of the age of the girls, we had to have a parent along for each girl. For many of the girls (Megan included) it was the first time staying overnight at camp or even doing any camping at all.
We did all the essential Girl Scout Camp activities – we attended flag ceremonies and a campfire. We roasted marshmallows on the campfire. Unfortunately, we didn’t cook much else on it because it had been wet and the Cadettes couldn’t get a good fire started – also we stayed in the dining hall, so a kitchen was readily available! We also took the girls on a walk in the creek that ran through camp – they all said that was their favorite part.
We all had so much fun and I can’t wait to take them camping again next year when they’re Brownies!
